Crypto, short for cryptocurrency, is a type of digital asset that uses cryptography for security. It operates on decentralized networks called blockchains, which record and verify transactions. Cryptocurrencies allow peer-to-peer transactions without the need for intermediaries like banks or any other financial institutions. Crypto are traded in the form of coins which can be bought, sold (once a position is held), and swapped for other cryptocurrencies.
RAKBANK has partnered with Bitpanda, licensed by VARA (Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority), to offer cryptocurrency investments (buy, sell, and swap) via the RAKBANK app.

Crypto trading involves buying, selling, and swapping cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum, with the goal of making a profit from fluctuations in their prices. It's similar to trading stocks, where you speculate on price movements to gain, but with a significant degree of volatility and risk.
RAKBANK's crypto partner Bitpanda provides Custody Solution (in the form of Digital Wallet) for its Brokerage Business and is licensed by VARA in UAE, ensuring users' assets are held securely on their behalf. These assets held within Bitpanda's custody cannot be transferred from one digital wallet to another.
It is mandatory to have your RAKToken activated before you begin your Crypto investment journey.
To trade Crypto, users will first be required to link a RAKBANK Current Or Saving AED account only for Crypto trading.
Thereafter, you have to transfer funds to your AED Current Or Saving account to ensure there is sufficient funds in that account to proceed with placing orders directly from your Crypto portfolio dashboard.
RAKBANK does not support transfers of Crypto holdings (within Digital Wallets) to or from RAKBANK / Bitpanda. This includes transfers between customers digital wallets.
Quote expiry limit is the time duration for which we hold the price for you. At the moment, that limit is 15 seconds for every order on RAKBANK / Bitpanda and the price will refresh should you not complete trade in this window, once again providing a 15 second window.

Yes, you can close your Crypto account at any time by submitting a request through our Customer support line. There are no fees for closing the account.
Before we proceed, you’ll need to withdraw any crypto funds held with Bitpanda by selling your holdings through the mobile application. Once all crypto assets are sold, RAKBANK will complete the closure of your Crypto account.
